Light & Candour
I am Mutsa Munyaradzi. I am 23 years old and I have no idea what I'm doing.
I can, however, tell you why I started this blog.
Why Light and Candour? Because on the 17th of July 2112, when I am officially the oldest living person on whatever is left of planet earth (or on the new planet we all move to), and a bespectacled, skinny yet muscular aspiring journalistic intern from Time Magazine asks me how I would summarise my 118 years of life, I would like to be able to say something along the lines of "I lived my life as light as a feather and as warm as candle light, and I told the truth while I did it." Or something equally as poetic and wise (see: pretentious). I'm not fussy.
But what I'd mean by that is that while I was here I was warm and inviting. I celebrated in and reflected the light in others. I didn't take life too seriously and I laughed often. I was authentic in how I loved and moved through the world. And I was always honest without being unkind. Essentially, I was a super millennial. The most special of snowflakes. And I hope the world was slightly better for it.
This is what I would like this blog to embody. A place of light, laughter and honesty. Of creativity, growth and exploration.
I want you to know that you are welcome here. And I hope that you will stay.
